Junior Database Administrator

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Junior Database Administrator (Jr. DBA) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our Postgres, Elasticsearch, and TIKV databases. You will work closely with senior DBAs and developers to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of our database systems


Responsibilities:

  •  Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Postgres, Elasticsearch, and TIKV databases.
  •  Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches  and versions when required.
  •  Assist in the implementation of backup and recovery strategies to ensure data  integrity and availability.
  •  Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, providing timely support to  development and operations teams.
  •  Perform routine maintenance tasks, including data migration, upgrades, and performance tuning.
  •  Conduct database health checks and performance tuning to ensure optimal  operation and reliability.
  •  Stay up-to-date with the latest database technologies and trends to  continuously improve database management practices.
  • Participate in on-call rotations to provide after-hours support as needed


Skills:

  •  Basic understanding of relational and SQL database systems, specifically Postgres
  • Knowledge of database backup and recovery processes, performance tuning, and maintenance.
  •  Understanding of database security practices and the ability to implement them effectively.
  •  Ability to work with database monitoring tools and perform regular health checks.
  •  Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
  •  Good communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a team environment.
  •  Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and database management  practices.
  •  Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems and basic shell scripting is a plus.
  •  Basic knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools like Jenkins is a plus.
