The organization aims to help the marine environment and dependent life-forms prosper in a sustainable manner while creating awareness about the challenges faced by ocean inhabitants. With a mission to conserve, restore, and manage the marine ecosystem in Indian coastal regions, Kuddle Life Foundation promotes good marine conservation practices through education, outreach, and research.

Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Marine Scientist - Reef Ecosystem based out of our offices in Pondicherry, India. The role involves conducting oceanographic research, studying fisheries, monitoring water quality, analyzing environmental science data, and studying marine biology. The Marine Scientist will be responsible for day-to-day tasks related to the reef ecosystem and its conservation. The role also involves writing project proposals and scientific papers as well as handling interns and students. Lastly, role also involves supporting social media, outreach and marketing teams.

Qualifications

• PhD in Marine Science/Ecology/Biology
• Certified Scuba Diver with a good experience and number of dives
• 2-years experience working for a NGO or a research/academic institution after completion of PhD
• Excellent scientific writing skills as demonstrated by publications.
• Experience in writing project/ grant proposals and project reports.
• Ability to teach and handle internship students and conduct field trips.
• Experience in conducting research in reef ecosystems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
