Job Description

The Position holder is responsible for the preparation and development of a conceptual, FEED stage and detailed design drawings that will ensure clarity and ease of construction. They will develop 3D models that align with all other disciplines. They will ensure design deliverables are completed and issued as per project specifications. This position holder will report to the Lead Engineer.


Successful Position holders are excellent communicators, enjoy solving problems, and work well in teams.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Become familiar with the Contract Scope of Work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements; including identifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to address the issues.
  • Interface with all disciplines to develop clash-free designs and liaise with other discipline support groups to ensure clearly defined interfaces, deliverables, and schedules are met.
  • Document substantive communications (communications that result in significant decisions or assignment of actions), and forward copies to the Discipline Lead Designer and Discipline Supervisor.
  • Assist Discipline Lead in preparing estimates for proposals and job scope changes, including execution statements, work schedules, and man-hour requirements
  • Ability and willingness to travel, as required to fulfill project and business needs.
  • Set up and maintain the Discipline Master design drawing and document files, including final archiving.
  • Support the import and export of reference models to PDMS / E3D from vendor inputs.
  • Review of vendor drawings and deliverables.
  • Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in E&I discipline under applicable codes and standards.


Should independently prepare and review the below-mentioned deliverables as a bare minimum:

  • 3D model
  • Detailed design drawings and layouts
  • Schematics
  • Interconnection and wiring diagrams
  • Block diagrams
  • Hazardous area classification drawings
  • Conduit and cable schedules Power layout drawings
  • Cable Tray layouts
  • Earthing and Lightning Protection layouts
  • Lighting layouts
  • Electrical cable tray layouts
  • Electrical Equipment layout
  • E&I support drawings
  • Cable blocks diagram, cable & Junction Box schedule
  • Instrument Hook up (Pneumatic and Process) Diagram
  • Installation standards, Loop diagrams
  • Fire & Gas Equipment Layouts, PA system, MCT arrangements
  • Typical Installation drawings
  • Equipment layout drawings
  • As-built drawings based on received RLM’s
  • MTO extraction and Preparation


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Diploma in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
  • Prior work experience in the design of Oil & Gas production facilities, refineries, or skid-based projects, site engineering support for construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Desired Software Experience: Proficient in the current release of AutoCAD, Aveva E3D, PDMS, Navis Freedom.
  • Experience in CAD Worx will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of AVEVA Electrical and AVEVA Instrumentation will be advantageous.
