Cloud Security – ZTA: Senior Software Engineering Manager

The Cisco Secure Access team is developing the next generation of Secure Service Edge (SSE) solutions as highly available distributed systems using cloud engineering practices.
Who You’ll Work With:
You will oversee a team of versatile engineers focused on developing, maintaining, and scaling our cloud security systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring our cloud infrastructure's security, reliability, and performance while fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
What You’ll Do:
Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Lead all phases of product development, and maintenance
Project Management: Lead all aspects of the planning, execution, and delivery of cloud security projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and with high quality.
Technical Guidance: Provide technical mentorship and expertise in cloud security, architecture, and standard processes to ensure robust and scalable solutions.
Customer Focus: Collaborate with product managers to understand customer requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and ensure the team delivers solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations.
Collaboration: Work closely with multi-functional teams, including product management, operations, and other engineering teams, to align on goals and work you're doing.
Performance Management: Conduct regular performance evaluations, set clear objectives, and provide ongoing feedback and development opportunities for team members.
Security Compliance: Ensure that all cloud security systems align with industry standards and regulations and stay updated on the latest security threats and mitigation strategies.
Resource Management: Develop team resources effectively, including hiring, training, and allocating tasks to meet project demands.
Who You Are:
Education: Bachelor’s or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience: 10 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
Technical Skills: Strong background in Distributed systems, cloud security, cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP), and software development.
Leadership: Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Project Management: Experience in managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and tight deadlines.
Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools.
Depth: Previous experience running services in a high-scale, high-availability environment.
Security Knowledge: In-depth understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies relevant to cloud environments.
