Key Responsibilities:

  1. Metadata Management:
  • Design, implement, and manage the organization’s metadata framework.
  • Maintain and enhance metadata repositories ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and easily accessible.
  • Work with stakeholders across IT and business units to ensure proper metadata tagging and integration with data systems.
  1. Data Governance:
  • Lead the establishment and ongoing management of data governance processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal policies.
  • Define and implement data ownership and stewardship roles within the organization.
  • Create and manage data quality and data governance metrics to monitor performance.
  1. Data Dictionary & Glossary Development:
  • Develop, maintain, and standardize the organization’s data dictionary and business glossary.
  • Ensure alignment between business terms and technical metadata, promoting a common understanding of data assets.
  • Collaborate with data owners and stewards to document and resolve inconsistencies in data definitions and usage.
  1. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Work closely with business, IT, and data analytics teams to understand their data needs and challenges.
  • Provide training and support to business users on the usage of metadata repositories, data dictionaries, and glossaries.
  • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams, ensuring that data governance practices are properly implemented and maintained.
  1. Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Ensure that data management practices comply with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant data privacy laws.
  • Identify data risks and work on mitigation strategies to ensure data integrity and security.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of experience in metadata management, data governance, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK) and best practices.
  • Experience with metadata management tools such as Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining data dictionaries and business glossaries.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data quality and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of data privacy regulations and how they impact data management practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP).
  • Experience in cloud-based data environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
