1. Electrical Maintenance and Repair Time Allocation 40% • Maintenance and upkeep main and auxiliary engine electrical systems (i.e. propulsion, power generation, boilers, sanitary systems); • Maintenance and upkeep engine automation systems; • Maintenance and upkeep of all distribution and sub-distribution switchboards. On high voltage vessels this would include assisting Chief ETO with any works necessary on HV switchboards and installations. 2. Electrical checks Time Allocation 30% • Regular safety checks of appliances and machinery including insulation checks; • Planned maintenance, test of alarms and standby systems of engine electrical systems; • Cleaning of electrical starter panels and distribution panels. 3. Electrical operational requirements Time Allocation 20% • Advise Chief ETO of work programs and details of all installations; • Update electrical drawings with new installations; • Assist in work reporting with Amos, Fidelio, daily and weekly work reports and photo reports; • Report consumption of electrical parts and materials; • Take over duty in engine control room during standby conditions as requested by Chief ETO; • Supervise and control daily work of Electro Technical Officers and Electro Technical Ratings as requested by Chief ETO; • On call duty for engine spaces and critical systems in rotation with 2nd ETO as requested by Chief ETO. 4. Other Time Allocation 10% • Will be expected to work alongside other members of the technical staff and non-technical staff; • Duties include close association with passengers so all ETOs are expected to be polite, courteous and presentable when working in passenger areas; • Must be familiar with regulations and work procedures applicable to assigned tasks and with company instructions and procedures relevant to this position; • Must be familiar with the ship’s “Emergency Plan”, the “Muster List”, the ship’s “Code of Conduct” and the “SQM”; • Must familiarise with the duties of Chief ETO and be prepared to take over those duties as requested by Chief Engineer.
