About the Role:

We’re looking for a passionate Backend Software Engineer Intern with strong Python (Django/Flask) skills to join our team for a 2-month winter internship. As part of our backend engineering team, you’ll assist in developing and optimizing backend systems, working with databases, and building APIs that ensure seamless integration with frontend applications. This internship is ideal for candidates looking to apply their backend development skills in a real-world, dynamic environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in building and maintaining RESTful APIs to support frontend functionality and ensure smooth data flow between systems.
  • Work with SQL and NoSQL databases to store, retrieve, and manage data efficiently.
  • Develop, test, and maintain server-side logic, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the frontend.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and propose solutions to optimize code for better scalability and speed.
  • Work closely with frontend engineers, product managers, and designers to integrate solutions and implement new features.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Python: Strong understanding of Python and familiarity with libraries like Flask or Django.
  • Database Knowledge: Basic knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.
  • RESTful API Development: Understanding of REST principles and experience in API development.
  • Data Structures & Algorithms: Good grasp of data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Version Control: Experience using Git for version control and collaboration.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate ideas clearly.
  • Bonus Skills: Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization tools (e.g., Docker) is a plus.
