Job Overview Summary:

Spirent Communications is seeking a seasoned Lead System Engineer to support our presales activities. This role is pivotal in formulating and presenting innovative technical solutions that meet our customers' needs and showcase Spirent's value propositions. The Lead System Engineer will work closely with our sales, product management, and engineering teams to drive technical sales processes and ensure the successful implementation of our solutions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Technical Solutions Development: Utilize deep technical understanding of customer needs to develop and present solutions that align with client business requirements.
  • Presales Support: Collaborate with sales teams to identify customer needs, present Spirent solutions, and formulate responses to RFx. Lead and conduct product demonstrations and proof-of-concept activities.
  • Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to understand their environment, challenges, and opportunities. Ensure proposed solutions reflect Spirent’s value proposition and competitive advantages.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across multiple business units, including sales, product management, product marketing, and engineering, to ensure alignment and integration of solutions.
  • Industry Awareness: Maintain a comprehensive awareness of industry trends, standards, and competition to identify business opportunities.
  • Technical Communication: Communicate complex technical solutions to executives, business sponsors, and technical resources in clear and concise language.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Mentor junior system engineers and provide technical leadership within the presales team.


Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field; a Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 4 years with a master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Deep knowledge of Spirent’s product suite and solutions.
  • Proven experience in technical sales processes and pre-sales activities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop innovative technical solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent writing, verbal presentation, and listening skills. Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of internal and external organizations.
  • Industry Knowledge: Broad understanding of industry trends, standards, and competitive landscape.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 30% of the time for customer engagements and team collaborations.
