BE Lead

• Understand business processes, customer value propositions, and devise optimal technical solutions. Take ownership of deployment, rollout, maintenance, system health monitoring, and support.
• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust backend systems, APIs, and microservices to support the core functionality of our B2B ecommerce platform.
• Plan team priorities, design, and feature estimates. Collaborate with senior leadership to define technical roadmaps and strategies for backend system enhancements and scalability.
• Drive the design and optimization of database schemas for efficient data storage and retrieval, leveraging advanced techniques and technologies.
• Lead initiatives to implement data migration, transformation, and indexing processes, ensuring data performance, and scalability.
• Conduct performance tuning and optimization of database queries and operations to enhance platform performance and reliability.
• Lead efforts to integrate backend systems with third-party APIs, services, and tools, overseeing the implementation of complex integration solutions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for enhancing platform functionality and interoperability.
• Architect and implement scalable and fault-tolerant backend solutions to accommodate growing user traffic and transaction volumes, utilizing advanced scalability patterns and techniques.
• Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms to proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks and system failures.
• Drive the implementation of advanced security best practices to protect sensitive data, prevent unauthorized access, and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities.
• Ensure adherence to relevant data privacy regulations and industry standards, collaborating with compliance teams to establish and maintain compliance frameworks.
• Stay abreast of technology objectives, architecture paradigms, engineering best practices, and industry trends.
• Foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing within the backend engineering team, promoting continuous learning.
• Serve as a technical leader, providing support to cross-functional teams, including frontend engineers, UX/UI designers, product managers, and QA engineers. Ensure teams cadence to project management processes and tools.

Qualifications & Skills

• Software Engineer with 6+ years of experience.
• Prior experience in leading a mentoring a highly motivated engineering team.
• Strong hands-on experience with building complex business applications. Exposure to all aspects of software lifecycle – requirement, solutioning, dev, QA, roll-out and adoption.
• Experience in digital commerce and retail domain preferred.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical skills and decision-making capabilities
• Clarity of thinking and detail orientation.
• Strong understanding of design patterns, distributed systems, microservices architecture, event driven design and RESTful APIs.
• Dexterity to quickly pick up and work on multiple languages and tech stacks.
• Proficiency in JAVA and prior experience on springboot is a must.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
• Experience in web-development and devops is a plus.
