Job Summary:

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) - Accounts Payable will lead the accounts payable function within the shared services organization, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and reconciliations. The role requires strong leadership, operational excellence, and a strategic approach to managing large-scale accounts payable operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Management:

  • Lead and manage the accounts payable team, providing guidance, mentoring, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills and resources to perform effectively.
  • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for accounts payable processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounts payable function.

Operational Excellence:

  • Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Manage the processing of high-volume invoices, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Address and resolve any issues or discrepancies related to accounts payable.

Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute accounts payable strategies that align with the organization’s overall financial goals.
  • Analyze data and provide insights to support decision-making and improve financial performance.
  • Participate in budgeting and forecasting activities related to accounts payable.

Vendor Management:

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring timely payments and addressing any payment-related inquiries or disputes.
  • Negotiate payment terms with vendors to optimize cash flow and working capital management.
  • Manage vendor onboarding and ensure compliance with company policies.

Technology & Automation:

  • Lead the implementation and optimization of accounts payable systems and technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to enhance process efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Ensure proper integration of accounts payable systems with other financial and ERP systems.

Risk Management & Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to internal controls and audit requirements related to accounts payable.
  • Identify and mitigate risks within the accounts payable process.
  • Support internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare and present accounts payable reports, including aging reports, payment forecasts, and cash flow analysis.
  • Monitor and report on accounts payable metrics and trends to senior management.
  • Conduct regular reviews of accounts payable performance and implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is preferred.

Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in accounts payable, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role within a shared services environment.
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale accounts payable operations.
  • Strong understanding of financial systems, ERP systems, and accounts payable automation tools.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in accounts payable.

Working Conditions:

  • This role may require occasional travel to other locations or company sites.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Compensation:

Up to 30 LPA
