Job Summary:

As a Dev Manager] in solar/wind/renewable energy, you will work on the Origination and Development of Projects. You will be responsible for bringing the project to a fully consented stage, i.e. up to the ready-to-build status (“RTB”). This would include all the initial due diligence related to acquiring the land, permits and related approvals, removal & resettlement of existing users/encroachments, Land/ right of way for the electrical collection system & the transmission line to grid utility. You will also be responsible for securing land for the project substation and ensuring all the necessary permits and approvals related to the Grid/ Interconnection are in place. You will work closely with the construction team to bring the project to a commercial operation stage.


We are currently looking for a Development Manager to be based in our project sites in India with the following requirements:


Job Responsibilities:

Experience in carrying out Project Development activities for greenfield development of Renewable Energy projects.

  1. Should be able to manage end-to-end project development responsibilities to bring the project to a fully consented stage/ready-to-build status.
  2. Possesses hands-on experience in Land acquisition-related activities such as carrying out our site feasibility studies, identifying the most optimum site for project installation, understanding the Land due diligence process, familiarity with the land acquisition policy framework, including land-ceiling acts, conversion to non-agricultural use, forest land approval process, etc.
  3. Experience in managing various types of Permits, Licenses and Approvals (PLAs) required for setting up, constructing and commissioning a Renewable energy project.
  4. Understand the prevailing policy framework for grid connectivity and related studies.
  5. To finalize contracting arrangements for development services and finalise the most optimum contracting structure in consultation with Engineering, Procurement, Project Finance and Legal departments.
  6. Manage contractor performance closely and ensure contractual commitments are delivered
  7. Work closely with the project team involving investment, business development, legal, engineering, legal, construction and asset management functions.
  8. Support the project team during the construction phase on all development-related activities.
  9. Ability to coordinate with the Project Finance department, Lender, and their Advisors for timely project due diligence and disbursements.
  10. Prepare the Development budget and plan and ensure development activities are completed within the planned schedule and costs.
  11. Proactively identifies and manages potential risks and opportunities of the project.
  12. Coordinating planning applications and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
  13. Meet and liaise with local developers, service providers (such as due diligence consultants), relevant authorities, and other stakeholders to maintain relationships on specific potential projects and in the ordinary business.
  14. Develop and leverage a network of professional relationships with local developers, relevant regulatory agencies and industry participants.
  15. Assist with due diligence or development opportunities, including selecting, appointing, and managing due diligence advisers as necessary.
  16. Support the translation of communications (emails, presentations, documents etc) and general facilitation of communication with local market participants.
  17. Manage and develop good relationships with local joint venture partners, including visits to project sites to manage key local project stakeholders.
  18. Manage the advancement of development activities for existing and new solar/wind/renewable energy projects in Inda. This involves day-to-day management of all development activities, whether supported by internal functions or external consultants, including managing the project milestone schedule, identifying the critical path, allocating tasks to relevant parties, regularly optimizing the plan, securing any project rights and permits, achieving development milestones, resourcing, and budget planning.
  19. Arrange and manage regular reporting activities for internal progress management purposes and update Blue leaf Energy leadership on the ongoing development activities and expected timing of reaching key development milestones.


Your Skills:

Degree or post-graduate qualifications in Engineering, Commerce, Finance, Business Administration, or similar technical or commercial training.

Established and hands-on 10-15 years of professional experience with a key focus on energy project development, preferably in solar, onshore wind or other renewable energy.

Strong network with local developers in India.

Ability to “knock on doors”, originate and source projects, and assess transactions.

Good project management skills, including the ability to plan work, work to the plan, manage risks and issues and drive outcomes in the face of tight timeframes and external pressures.

Ability to manage technical and regulatory discussions with appropriate engineering and legal experts and government agencies and manage input requirements from internal support functions such as engineering, procurement, legal and finance.

Proactive, self-motivated, and ambitious personality.

Ability to work autonomously / independently to identify new project opportunities and develop existing opportunities.

Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.

Excellent written and conversational English and ability to communicate with key stakeholders in [local language].

Ability to prepare and read English language contracts and documents and prepare presentations to a high standard.

Strong MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) skills.

Willingness to travel extensively within India as and when required.
