Job Summary:

As we are expanding, we are seeking highly skilled and experienced “Underground Metro Structural Designers” of varying experience from 5-20 years to join our team. The successful candidates will be responsible for designing the structural components of underground metro systems, tunnels, stations, shafts and associated infrastructure including project management for design consultancy. These roles demand expertise in structural engineering, a deep understanding of underground construction methods and a focus on safety and durability.


Key Responsibilities:

·  Develop detailed structural designs for underground metro components such as tunnels, stations, retaining walls, and support systems.

· Perform structural analysis using industry-standard software to ensure the integrity, safety, and stability of underground structures.

·  Design structures to withstand various loads and environmental factors, including soil pressure, seismic activity, and water ingress.

·  Prepare design reports, calculations, and documentation to support project approvals and construction.

·  Review detailed structural drawings, models, and specifications using CAD and BIM software.

·  Work closely with civil, geotechnical, and mechanical engineers to integrate structural designs with other systems and ensure a cohesive overall design.

· Collaborate with construction teams to provide technical support during the construction phase, ensuring that designs are accurately implemented.

· Ensure that all structural designs comply with local and international codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

·  Conduct regular reviews to ensure quality control and adherence to project requirements.

· Address design challenges related to underground construction, such as space constraints, complex soil conditions, and integration with existing infrastructure.

· Explore innovative materials and construction techniques to improve the durability and efficiency of underground structures.

·  Conduct site visits and inspections to monitor construction progress and address any structural issues that arise during the build process.

· Provide engineering solutions to onsite challenges and ensure that construction adheres to the design specifications.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil and Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from a reputed college.
  • 5-20 years of experience in structural design for underground metro systems, tunnels, or large-scale infrastructure projects and project management.
  • Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., STAAD, SAP2000, ETABS) and CAD/BIM tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Strong knowledge of underground construction methods, materials, and structural analysis.
  • Familiarity with seismic design, geotechnical interaction, and load-bearing calculations for underground structures.
  • Knowledge of Segmental Lining Design.
  • Knowledge of Rock and soft ground tunneling.
  • Knowledge in TBM and NATM tunneling.


Soft Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with international metro or tunneling projects.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and green building standards.
  • Familiarity with the latest advancements in underground construction technologies.
