Job Title: Financial Controller – Sugar/Cotton Desk

Location: Delhi/Mumbai

Reports To: Desk Head

Job Summary: The Financial Controller for the Sugar and Cotton Desks will oversee all financial activities related to the sugar and cotton trading operations. This role includes financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The Financial Controller will work closely with the trading, operations, trade finance, and accounts teams to support the overall financial operations of the sugar and cotton desks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Trading Operations: Provide support, insights, alerts, suggestions, and comments to Traders to facilitate and optimize trading activities on a day-to-day basis
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present accurate Mark to market reports, other management reports, and performance analysis
  • Account Reconciliation: Liaise with the accounting team to reconcile, monitor, and approve commodity accounts from desk m2m/pnl to accounting and PNL.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop, manage, and monitor budgets and forecasts to meet financial targets.
  • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks associated with sugar trading operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure financial regulations, internal policies, and industry standards are adhered to.
  • Cost Control: Monitor and control operational costs to optimize profitability.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow planning and ensure liquidity requirements are met.
  • System Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial reporting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop in-depth knowledge of sugar and cotton trading, including market trends, pricing strategies, and supply chain dynamics to inform financial decisions and strategies

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., CA, CPA, CMA) is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably within the trading or commodities industry, with specific experience in sugar/cotton trading.
