Head of Engineering

Job Overview:

As the Head of Engineering at Ecolibrium, you will be responsible for overseeing all engineering activities, leading a team of talented engineers, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality products. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to align engineering efforts with business goals and contribute to the strategic direction of the company. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving technological innovation and maintaining our competitive edge in the market.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the engineering team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute the engineering strategy in alignment with Ecolibrium’s business objectives.
  • Product Development Oversight: Oversee the development and delivery of high-quality products, ensuring they meet market needs and customer expectations.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and optimize engineering processes and best practices to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product management, marketing, sales, and other departments to ensure cohesive and aligned efforts across the organization.
  • Talent Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent, building a high-performing team capable of achieving ambitious goals.
  • Innovation and R&D: Drive innovation by staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and by fostering a culture of research and development.
  • Resource Management: Manage engineering budgets, resources, and timelines effectively to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical leadership and guidance to the engineering team, ensuring the use of cutting-edge technologies and methodologies. Eagerness to be fully hands-on.


Experience/Skills

  • Technical Skills: Strong technical background with experience in software development, hardware integration, and cloud technologies.

  • Proficiency in backend technologies such as Node.js, Python, Java, or Go.
  • Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Profiency in building microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and manage large engineering teams, with a track record of delivering successful products.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and translate business goals into actionable engineering plans.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. An advanced degree (MS or PhD) is preferred.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in engineering roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position. Experience in IoT, building management systems, or related industries is highly desirable.
