About the Role:

We are looking for a Data Engineer to help with the migration of SQL Server stored procedures and the refactoring of Python and R scripts to work within Snowflake. The primary responsibility will be converting SQL Server code to Snowflake SQL, optimizing it for performance, and rewriting existing Python and R scripts for compatibility with the new data platform. This role requires close collaboration with data teams and a strong understanding of cloud-based data solutions.


What you will do:

  • Analyze and convert existing SQL Server stored procedures to Snowflake
  • SQL by translating T-SQL to Snowflake-compatible SQL code.
  • Rebuild and optimize the logic of stored procedures to take advantage of Snowflake’s architecture, ensuring better performance and scalability.
  • Conduct testing and validation of migrated stored procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency with the original procedures.
  • Refactor and rewrite legacy Python scripts used for data processing,
  • transformations, or analytics to ensure compatibility with the new
  • Snowflake environment.
  • Optimize Python code to leverage Snowflake’s scalable infrastructure, ensuring
  • efficient data handling and processing.
  • Maintain and enhance existing Python code for integration with other data sources and pipelines as part of the migration.
  • Refactor existing R scripts to function within the new Snowflake data architecture, ensuring compatibility and performance optimization.
  • Migrate statistical analysis or data processing workflows built in R to work
  • seamlessly with Snowflake’s capabilities.
  • Work closely with data architects, data engineers, and business analysts to understand the logic and structure of existing stored procedures, Python scripts, and R scripts.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in converting SQL Server stored procedures to Snowflake
  • SQL, with knowledge of Snowflake’s architecture and best practices.
  • Proven experience in Python and R scripting, particularly in refactoring code for data processing or analytics.
  • Experience working with large datasets and optimizing performance in a cloud-based environment, preferably Snowflake.
  • Hands-on experience with data migration projects, particularly from on-premise systems like SQL Server to cloud-based platforms like Snowflake.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, especially in SQL Server T-SQL and Snowflake
  • SQL.
  • Strong experience with Python and R for data processing transformation, and statistical analysis, with the ability to refactor scripts to work in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with Snowflake features like stored procedures, clustering, partitioning, and virtual warehouses.
