What you’ll be doing?

As an RPG programmer, you create or enhance software and programs using RPG (Report Program Generator), a specialised coding language developed by IBM. Your work may be used for banking/finance, insurance, manufacturing, or retail applications. You might also create business or process models for new systems to be developed in the future; for example, you might model how a bank works so that its information can be easily translated into computer programs.


  • Create libraries of routines and utilities
  • Write programs using RPG syntax and code to create objects, reports, forms, menus, dialogue boxes, macros, procedures, and other items for use with a database system
  • Debug programs and troubleshoot problems with existing systems
  • Retest programs after making changes
  • Keep up with changing programming trends in the field of RPG


What we seek in you:

  • A minimum of 3+ years RPG IV and/or Free-form RPG experience
  • Experience in web-based development skills including HTML, JavaScript, JSON, AJAX
  • Experience with SQL, especially embedded SQL a plus
  • Experience with RDI a plus
  • Good communication skills, good troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, an ability to
  • Comprehend and work with complex data models and program logic.
