A Database Administrator at Jeavio maintains a key role in the implementation and maintenance of the database components across the customer products, and assists customers in the planning, support, and management of their databases. Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following.

You will be expected to:

  • Design, implement, and maintain database schema
  • Maintain reliability of data and databases
  • Develop and implement standards for database installation, maintenance and configuration
  • Setup, monitor, and maintain disaster recovery solutions for customers' production databases
  • Write and tune SQL queries and PL/SQL procedures
  • Troubleshoot application database errors
  • Defines and ensures that databases meet the quality standards and security requirements
  • Researches and keeps abreast of latest technologies and best practices
  • Ensure that the hardware is adequate to support the databases and make recommendations when upgrades are required
  • Altering storage structures to meet the evolving needs of the company.
  • Setting up database user accounts.
  • Training users on how to access the information in the database.
  • Finding and debugging malfunctioning programs affecting the database integrity.
  • Creating autonomous database backups.
  • Guide and mentor junior team members.


Requirements

Key technical expertise areas expected for this role:

  • Strong knowledge of relational database technology and relational database design
  • Managing Oracle via Linux administration
  • Understanding of Oracle Auditing, logging, alert/event review via linux files
  • Familiar with Linux shell commands & Linux administration experience
  • Understanding of Linux Memory in conjunction with Oracle parameters that require tuning or review for troubleshooting
  • Upgrades and patches via Linux for Oracle
  • Strong documentation skills, oral and written communication skills
  • Capable of managing multiple projects at the same time
  • Performs under limited supervision
  • Proven ability to work within a team to achieve goals


Additional areas that would add value:

  • Oracle Certified Professional Certification or similar
  • Experience with scripting programming (bash and one of Perl or Python)
  • Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
  • Experience in security testing and tools.


Education and experience:

  • Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Science or related fields.
  • 5+ years of DBA experience
