Job Description: Network Security Engineer

The Network Security Engineer is responsible for protecting systems from cyber threats, including bugs, malware, and hacking attempts. This role involves monitoring organizational networks for security breaches, investigating incidents, and maintaining security software. The engineer will also check for vulnerabilities in computer and network systems, identify existing issues, and build safeguards to prevent future threats.


Responsibilities

1. Network Security Management: 

* Implement and manage firewalls, data encryption programs, and other security software.

* Conduct penetration testing and vulnerability scanning to identify and mitigate security risks.

* Monitor networks for security breaches and respond to incidents.

2. Networking:

* Configure and manage routing protocols, SD-WAN, and VPNs.

* Manage network access policies and firewall settings.

3. Windows Server Management:

* Oversee Windows Server environments, including server backups and antivirus renewal.

4. Exchange Server Management:

* Manage email security, including monitoring held messages, checking bounced messages, and configuring allowed/rejected domains.

5. Azure Cloud Technologies:

* Manage Azure resources, including virtual machines, VNet, VNet peering, and site-to-site VPNs.

* Configure and monitor Azure FortiGate firewall and security policies.

* Utilize Azure Log Analytics and monitor Azure Cloud Security and Azure Defender.

6. Azure Active Directory:

* Manage user accounts and permissions in Azure AD.

* Implement conditional access policies and multi-factor authentication (MFA).

7. Microsoft 365 Portal Management:

* Create user mailboxes, assign licenses, enable MFA, and set archive policies.

* Manage SharePoint sites and PowerApps.

8. Domain Management:

* Update DNS records and manage MX records.

* Handle domain names management and email security via Mimecast.

9. Oracle NetSuite:

* Perform basic administration, including database management and master data management.

10. SQL and Reporting:

* Execute basic SQL queries and manage Excel reports.

* Develop basic Crystal Reports and manage report formats.

11. ERP Solutions:

* Administer basic Oracle NetSuite and MS Dynamics Navision, including user creation and permission assignments.

12. SIP Server and Protocols:

* Manage SIP servers and 3cx systems, including user extensions and backups.

13. On-Premise Hardware Management:

* Manage server backups, printers, wireless access points, and NAS storage backups.

14. Network Management:

* Configure and manage SD-WAN and on-premise to Azure VPN connections.

15. Pentesting and Vulnerability Management:

* Conduct on-premise hardware vulnerability testing using tools like Kali Linux, OpenVAS, Nmap, and Ettercap.

Required Skill Set

Security Skills:

* Penetration testing and vulnerability scanning expertise.

* Knowledge of security software and encryption methods.

Networking Knowledge:

* Proficiency in routing protocols, SD-WAN, VPN configurations.

Windows Server and Exchange Server:

Experience in managing Windows Servers and Exchange environments.

Cloud Technologies:

* Strong knowledge of Azure resources, virtual desktops, FortiGate firewalls, and cloud security.

* Experience with Azure AD and conditional access policies.

Database and Reporting:

* Basic SQL query skills and experience with database management.

* Knowledge of Crystal Reports and Excel report management.

ERP Systems:

* Basic administration skills in Oracle NetSuite and MS Dynamics Navision.

Communication Protocols:

* Understanding of SIP servers and protocols.

General IT Management:

* Experience with server backups, printer management, wireless access points, and NAS storage.

Pentesting Tools:

* Proficiency in using tools like Kali Linux, OpenVAS, Nmap, and Ettercap for vulnerability testing.

PowerApps:

* Ability to design and manage PowerApps.

ISP Management:

* Experience in managing ISP connections within firewalls.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Domain Management:

* Manage domain names and DNS records.

* Oversee email security and manage Mimecast held messages.

2. Microsoft 365 Management:

* Manage user mailboxes, license assignments, MFA, and archive policies.

* Administer SharePoint sites and PowerApps.

3. Azure Management:

* Monitor and manage Azure cloud resources, security, backups, and virtual desktops.

4. ERP and Database Management:

* Administer Oracle NetSuite and MS Dynamics Navision.

* Execute SQL queries and manage Crystal and Excel reports.

5. Network and Hardware Management:

* Configure and manage firewalls, SD-WAN, and VPN connections.

* Perform vulnerability testing on on-premise hardware.

Qualifications

* Proven experience as a Network Security Engineer or similar role.

* Strong knowledge of network security management, including firewalls and encryption.

* Proficient in networking, Windows Server, Exchange, and Azure cloud technologies.

* Basic skills in SQL, database management, and reporting tools.

* Familiarity with ERP systems, SIP servers, and general IT hardware management.

* Ability to conduct penetration testing and manage vulnerabilities effectively.
