Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage complex MySQL database structures
  • Provision and configure MySQL instances in both clustered and non-clustered environments
  • Optimize database performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and resource utilization analysis
  • Implement and maintain a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for MySQL databases
  • Perform regular backups and recoveries to ensure data integrity and minimize downtime
  • Automate routine database tasks using scripting languages like Python or shell scripting
  • Monitor database health and performance using industry-standard tools and identify potential issues proactively
  • Implement and enforce strict security protocols to protect against unauthorized access and data breaches
  • Manage user access controls and permissions for the databases
  • Collaborate with application developers and other IT professionals to troubleshoot database-related issues
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and technologies in MySQL database administration
  • Document database design, configuration, and procedures

Requirements

  • A total of 10 yoe, with a minimum 6+ years of experience as a Senior MySQL Database Administrator or a similar role
  • Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex MySQL databases
  • In-depth knowledge of MySQL query optimization techniques and performance tuning
  • Strong understanding of database security best practices and access control mechanisms
  • Experience with database automation scripting (e.g., Python, shell scripting)
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation for MySQL databases
  • Background in Banking/Insurance domain is preferred
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A passion for learning and staying current with the latest advancements in MySQL technology
