Overview

IDC is seeking a Research Analyst to join its Software Tracker team. This role involves conducting in-depth research for IDC’s Software Tracker, working collaboratively with internal analysts and engaging with external vendors as needed. The analyst will deliver regular, detailed analyses of software markets across diverse geographies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of five software tracker analysts based in the Bangalore office, fostering their growth and guiding their efforts to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of tracker methodologies to ensure they align with company goals and industry best practices.
  • Manage the complete vendor modeling process, ensuring models are accurate, timely, and provide actionable insights to support strategic decision-making.
  • Utilize expert-level modeling skills to drive data-informed decisions and enhance overall team performance.
  • Promote team collaboration by coordinating efforts to meet project timelines and deliverables efficiently.
  • Provide continuous mentorship and professional development opportunities, encouraging a culture of growth and continuous improvement within the team.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MSc in Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent), with strong analytical and logical skills to interpret quantitative insights and estimate market sizes.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, with the ability to leverage its capabilities for complex data analysis and modeling.
  • Extensive experience managing a team, including at least 3-4 years in a lead role.
  • Proven expertise in data modeling and analytics, with a demonstrated ability to apply these skills to solve real-world business challenges.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a successful track record of developing and managing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, capable of managing complex projects and meeting tight deadlines effectively.
