Position Overview

We are looking for experienced Data Engineers to join our growing team at Maltem. In this role, you’ll play a key part in designing, building, and maintaining high-quality data pipelines and solutions that support our clients’ global operations. You will focus on delivering robust, efficient, and scalable data infrastructure to help our clients achieve their business goals.


Key Responsibilities

1. Development & Implementation

  • Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines.
  • Implement scalable data transformation workflows and testing frameworks.
  • Build frameworks for data migration, integration patterns, and performance optimisation.
  • Maintain and update technical documentation.


2. Platform Support

Work across leading data platforms, including:

  • Azure Data Factory: Build pipelines, create data flows, optimise transformations, and ensure seamless integration.
  • Azure Synapse Analytics: Develop, tune, and manage large-scale data solutions.
  • MS Fabric: Develop pipelines, manage integration flows, and optimise transformation logic.
  • Apache Spark


3. Quality & Testing

  • Implement and monitor data quality checks to ensure reliable and accurate data delivery.
  • Develop and maintain unit tests and perform integration testing.
  • Debug and resolve technical issues in data pipelines and workflows.


Technical Skills

  • Python: Proficiency in data processing and ETL frameworks (Intermediate to Advanced).
  • SQL: Advanced query optimization and database management.
  • ETL/ELT Development: Designing, implementing, and maintaining pipelines.
  • Data Modeling: Strong understanding of schema design and transformation logic.
  • Testing Frameworks: Experience in unit and integration testing.
  • Version Control: Proficiency in Git.


Desired Skills

  • Expertise with Azure Data Factory or similar tools.
  • Experience with Apache Spark for large-scale data processing.
  • Familiarity with other cloud platforms and ETL/ELT tools is a plus.


Experience & Education

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (preferred).
  • Industry experience in retail or similar sectors is a bonus.


Working Environment


  • Location: India working remotly for Australia, Australian Eastern Standard Time (AEST).
