Job Description:

We are seeking a talented and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our game development team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for gaming, strong leadership skills, and a proven track record of delivering high-quality games. As the Engineering Manager, you will oversee all aspects of game development, from planning and design to implementation and launch.


Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of game engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to foster their professional growth and development.
  2. Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of game development projects, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
  3. Technical Direction: Provide technical expertise and guidance to the development team, including architecture design, coding standards, and best practices for game development.
  4. Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams including game designers, artists, producers, and QA testers to ensure alignment and coordination throughout the development process.
  5. Feature Development: Drive the development of new game features and mechanics, working closely with the design team to translate creative concepts into technical implementations.
  6. Code Review and Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality, ensure adherence to coding standards, and identify areas for improvement. Implement quality assurance processes to detect and resolve bugs and issues.
  7. Performance Optimization: Optimize game performance and resource usage to ensure smooth gameplay experiences across various platforms and devices.
  8. Technology Evaluation: Stay updated on emerging technologies, tools, and trends in game development, and evaluate their potential impact on our games and development processes.
  9. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and challenges in game development projects and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.
  10. Reporting and Communication: Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on project status, progress, and key performance metrics. Communicate effectively with stakeholders to manage expectations and ensure transparency.


Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  2. Proven experience in game development, with at least 3 years of experience in a leadership or management role.
  3. Strong technical background in game programming languages and engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
  4. Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve their best.
  5. Deep understanding of game design principles, mechanics, and player psychology.
  6. Solid understanding of software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum.
  7. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to handle complex technical challenges and make strategic decisions.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  9. Passion for gaming and a deep appreciation for the craft of game development.
  10. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
