Job Description of Academic Support Fellows (ASF)

Shantilal Muttha Foundation (SMF) is a not-for-profit organization engaged in the field of education, with a focus on the implementation of a program called Mulyavardhan, which is an activity-based intervention to develop social, emotional and ethical skills, 21st-century skills, and life skills in primary and middle school children. The organization seeks to hire a self-motivated and proficient candidate for the position of who will be responsible for conducting training workshops for private school teachers all over India for the abovementioned areas in English.

Job Location: Daman (readiness to travel regularly within their jurisdiction and other locations as and when required)

Designation: Academic Support Fellows

Reporting to: State Program Manager

Responsibilities :

1.      Conduct regular school visits to extend academic support to the Mulyavardhan teachers through conducting

classroom observations and providing constructive feedback

2.      Discuss MV progress with School Principal, teachers and parents during the school visits.

3.      Conduct regular visits to DEO/BEO ADEI/BRCC offices to discuss and update Mulyavardhan progress

4.      Attend meetings conducted by DEO/BEO ADEI/BRCC to share the MV progress, discuss the issues / challenges

and seek their support for resolution of the issues.

5.      Support CRP, BRP's and MRP's in conducting quality classroom observations through joint visits to the

classrooms as per their availability

6.      Prepare a detailed workplan for the block in consultation with Program Manager. Ensure implementation of

Mulyavardhan activities as per the work plans in the respective blocks.

7.      Coordinating and facilitating the teacher and CRP trainings in the block.

8.      Coordinate with block level officer and ensure timely distribution of MV materials to the schools.

9.      Collect all the information required in the prescribed format and submit it promptly.

10.  As a responsible team member, develop and manage good working relations with block (taluk) level government

officials and staff. Meet the DEO/BEO/ADEI/ BRCC at least 2-3 times a week and share the brief information

about your school visits.

11.  Co-ordinate the work of other team members to identify and respond to program needs.

12.  Work in close coordination with the State program manager to implement planned activities in the designated

cluster, taluk, and school.

13.  Support and actively participate in training sessions, and academic, pedagogical workshops conducted by SMF.

14.  Report regularly informing state program manager by generating weekly and monthly Progress Reports,

Quarterly Progress Reports, and other relevant reports. Reports need achievements of the efforts, findings from

assessments, identifying gaps, and formulating a cluster-wide response plan, ensure that information is shared

amongst cluster members, and that information is made available to improve planning, integration, and

implementation.

15. Identify and inform, own learning and training needs to provide academic and pedagogic support.

16. Any other task assigned by Program Manager as per program need.

Knowledge and Skills required:

  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English, and good ability in Hindi/Marathi or any other regional language  
  • Excellent Presentation/ Delivery skills
  • The ability to relate to trainees at all levels
  • Multi-task and adhere to strict timelines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to encourage and motivate people
  • Hard-working, self-starter, and team player reflecting strong commitment to work
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Advanced proficiency in computer skills (MS Office)
  • Knowledge or understanding of the national policy documents on education, principles of education, and child psychology will be an added advantage.
  • Basic Understanding of govt. education system.

Educational Qualification:

A Bachelors/ Masters Degree in Education, Social Sciences, Social work, Development studies.

Experience:

v 2-3 years of experience in the field of education, teaching, or teacher education.
