Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled FortiGate Wireless Engineer with extensive experience in managing and configuring FortiGate Firewalls and Fortinet Wireless solutions. The candidate will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing wireless networks, ensuring seamless security and performance, and supporting our clients with a range of wireless and security needs. This is a part-time, remote role that requires a strong understanding of both wireless technologies and network security.


Key Responsibilities:

Configure, manage, and troubleshoot FortiGate wireless networks, including access points and wireless controllers.

Implement and maintain wireless security policies using FortiGate Firewalls.

Optimize wireless network performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.

Design and deploy secure Wi-Fi networks for clients, including SSID management, encryption protocols, and user authentication.

Assist in the setup and configuration of secure remote access solutions.

Conduct periodic audits of wireless configurations and firewall policies to ensure compliance with security standards.

Monitor and analyze wireless network traffic to detect and mitigate any potential security threats.

Document all configurations, changes, and network performance metrics.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting to clients as required.

Collaborate with internal and external teams to provide wireless network solutions tailored to client requirements.

Skills and Qualifications:

3+ years of experience working with FortiGate Firewalls and Fortinet Wireless solutions.

Strong knowledge of Wi-Fi technologies (802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax), RF principles, and wireless network design.

Experience with Fortinet Wireless Controllers and FortiAP configuration.

Hands-on experience with firewall policy configuration, NAT, VPNs, and security policies.

Strong understanding of network security protocols such as WPA2/WPA3, 802.1X, and VPN encryption.

Ability to troubleshoot wireless network issues and optimize performance.

Certifications such as Fortinet NSE4 or higher are highly desirable.

Preferred:

Experience in working with multi-site wireless deployments.

Familiarity with network monitoring tools and wireless heatmapping solutions.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide support remotely.

Prior experience in managed services or consulting environments.
