The Role:
BirchStreet is looking for an individual who will lead the Product Team in executing a Product strategy and roadmap to meet our growth objectives. At BirchStreet, we believe in the principals of a Product Led organization, understanding the importance of delivering the right products with the right features that will ultimately contribute to our strong growth.
The primary responsibility of the Vice President of Product Management is to develop and lead a high- functioning team of world-class Product Managers and Analysts. The incumbent will define the optimal product roadmap for our Core Products, ensuring alignment and focus across Product and Technology and all departments within the organization. This strategic alignment aims to solidify BirchStreet's leadership in the P2P hospitality space. A key aspect of the role involves mastering the balance between ensuring customer success and managing customer requests, all while driving significant growth through a well-defined product strategy. Specifically, the VP of Product Management will be responsible for the following:
- Align the Product Directors to ensure a clear vision, strategy and communication of the roadmap across all Core Product areas (P2P, AP, Inventory, Event Management, Recipes, Insights, Pay)
- Own the Product Lifecycle from end to end – including the strategy, current year roadmap, design, delivery, and ongoing performance of our Products
- Create Business plans and prioritize Product and Engineering work based on business cases; understand and ensure visibility into trade-offs
- Provide day-to-day management of a team of Product Managers to ensure focus and execution against the plan
- Ensure alignment to priorities and delivery expectations with technology and other delivery teams
- Define the team and Product success KPIs and provide ongoing measurement against goals
- Measure performance of existing product lines to determine areas of focus which could drive additional revenue; ensure the measurement of the delivered value/revenue and cost of the project against the original business case
- Work across the organization to align with Sales, Customer Success, Implementation, Finance, Legal & Compliance and Marketing; ensuring Products are meeting the full needs of customers, partners and internal stakeholders
- Provide overall high-level status and communication across all Products to internal and external stakeholders; act as Product point of contact with BirchStreet strategic partners and customers
- Have a clear understanding of Product Management principals and define and implement the right methodologies with the Product team
- Research competitive landscape and key emerging trends and technologies and provide guidance on impacts to our strategy and roadmap
- Understand full go-to-market strategies and ensure Product readiness of major launches
- Manage and transform product documentation processes, including release notes; identify new technologies to streamline and uplevel the value of our documentation process; ensure all Product Managers provide input within each of their areas and work with Documentation for internal and external facing release notes
Core Competencies:
- 9+ years’ proven experience leading product teams in a high paced environment;
- B2B experience preferably with a multinational company
- Ability to define and implement new processes to transform and grow the business
- Proven ability to earn trust of customers and peers, to communicate professionally, and to manage expectations at the appropriate level
- Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
- Proven track record of developing, launching, and generating revenue from enterprise SaaS solutions
- Experience developing business cases; strong analytical problem-solving skills
- Driving, planning, and interpreting both qualitative and quantitative research
- Experience building cross-functional business relationships, gathering user requirements, translating requirements to technical specifications / user stories
- Experience creating and contributing to a software product road-map, evangelizing the product vision, and grooming a back-log
- Proven competency with agile processes; experience working with Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence etc.) and Aha Product tools a plus
- Experience with P2P software, and specifically Hospitality, a plus
