AQP Engineer

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Work as a design center Advance Quality Planning Engineer for Global projects.

Work closely with AQP managers and Engineers at different design centers to execute AQP new product development deliverables accurately and on-time during the appropriate phase. These deliverables help manage and mitigate project risk to ensure a Flawless Product Launch that meets customers Cost, Quality, Delivery requirements.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.

Work independently as a design center Advance Quality Planning for Global projects (NPD/MOD/SPO&TSP) by executing all NPI direct AQP Deliverables. Quality Plan Development: Ensures the project Quality Plan for new products and product modifications are focused on the voice of customer and all project quality deliverables are completed in a timely manner. Provide regular project updates to the responsible design center AQP Managers.

2.Store all AQP deliverables on Project Share Point site on designated folders within the planned date according to project timeline and update the phase deliverable checklist regularly.

3. Be an expert and have good product knowledge of different design centers (Cable assemblies/Cage and connectors). Maintains and updates the Internal knowledge database.

4.Facilitate DFMEA, PFMEA and DVP meetings for new projects and challenge the design team during design/process/DVP reviews and follow up on timely basis to close out open actions.

5. Provide valuable inputs to the manufacturing AQP during the transfer of the project to the plant. Be the key contact of Manufacturing AQP for any questions linked to the design of the product. Have periodic meetings with Manufacturing AQP’s to provide an update of the project.

6.Work on AQP requests that needs the skill set of an AQP Engineer (CPMP’s that need tolerance analysis, complex and new design’s) and support other AQP Engineers in the team for assistance in requests.

7.Drive continuous improvement projects that add value to the global AQP Team. Collaborate with other Global AQP’s to identify special projects and support them

8.Support Senior AQP Engineers in capturing lessons learned and conducting knowledge sharing within the team and globally

9.Enhance/develop new skills needed to support any new requests/requirements from other sites and divisions (Non CSBU) for new tasks. Pilot the new task and develop work-instructions that will help other AQP Engineers within the team.

10.Provide valuable inputs to Project Team during the regular project meetings. Be the key contact for all quality related deliverables and for any questions linked to the design quality of the product.

11.Expert in all the below mentioned AQP deliverables and works on them as needed

12.Drive quality/functional related issues raised during product development phase and find root cause using appropriate quality tools, provide strong counter measures, record the lesson learned from each of these problems, use them as a checkpoint for future projects.

13.Drawing Reviews: Facilitates checking 2D drawings for errors on specific new product development launches under direct guidance from the design center AQP.Support design reviews and suggest changes wherever necessary – Host CTF review meeting and identify the critical characteristics with the help of PDE/Experts

14.Qualification Reports: Compiles internal tool qualification reports after completion of trial runs in the plant. Create Qualification plans for projects in stature

15. Supplier PPAP Approval: Reviews and approves supplier product specific documentation on new and modified purchased components using PPAP.

16.Customer PPAP Approval: Complete final assembly PPAP compilation of all deliverables into PPAP format for final review by the design AQP. Final PPAP is submitted to customer by design AQP

17.Problem Solver: Lead in the problem solving (8D’s), analysis, and resolution of quality complaints during launch at GTC India. Support from design centers to prevent repeat issues & Implement systemic improvements to the Product Development Processes to reduce New Products QNs.

18.Lessons Learned: Gather historical data on customer complaints/Internal quality issues (historical SAP Quality Notification), production defect data (Quality as Produced), DFM LL from manufacturing engineering team, Signal Integrity LL from SIE team and summarize all Lessons Learned to define corrective actions for next generation product launches.

19.Control Plan: Performs revision changes to update inspection plans or control plans. Create new control plan/inspection plan for new products

20.Inspection Instructions: Create inspection instructions based on similar products

21. PBM & Quality Systems: Understand & practice the KOCH PBM philosophy & guiding principles, International Standards Organization (ISO) by following stated policies and procedures.

SCOPE:

Supports design center AQPs at multiple sites to ensure Advanced Quality Planning new product development deliverables and activities are completed on-time for approval by the design AQP Engineer. Works as an independent Design AQP to complete all AQP deliverables according to NPI direct. Accountable to the design center AQP and AQP manager at applicable sites.

EDUCATION:

REQUIRED:

Diploma or BS degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or another related field

PREFERRED:

Training in DOE, Advance Quality Planning Tools like DFMEA, Lean / Six Sigma, reliability test plans, hands on experience on supplier PPAP document review , customer PPAP document preperation.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

REQUIRED:

2-4+ years’ experience in Quality Engineering or related engineering field

PREFERRED:

2-4 year’s experience in Quality engineering in a new-product introduction environment

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

REQUIRED:

Strong knowledge on APQP and PPAP deliverables.

Fair idea on Project Management System (product design and development – mass production)

Strong organizational skill to anticipate, plan, organize and self-monitor workload.

• interpersonal skills for effective leadership and team facilitation
• communication, Listening skills and a quick learner.

Solid Knowledge & understanding of Engineering drawings, metrology, and GD&T

• years knowledge of statistics - experience using Minitab or other software
• years using MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Power BI, Visio)
• to travel (domestic and international) 5% - 10%

PREFERRED:

• knowledge of electronic assembly, testing, molding, stamping, plating and assembly processes
• System (ISO 9001 or TS 16949) and Supplier Auditing experience, Gage and Fixture design. Working with global stake holders (US, China) remote would be an added advantage.
