Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, and develop innovative furniture and hardgoods products that meet customer needs and align with our brand aesthetic.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineers, manufacturers, and marketers to ensure seamless product development from concept to production.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, materials, and manufacturing techniques in the furniture and hardgoods industry.
  • Create detailed product specifications, technical drawings, and prototypes to communicate design intent to stakeholders.
  • Oversee the product development process, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and cost targets.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate them into the design process to drive continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and other team activities to contribute to the overall success of the company


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or a related field.
  • 5 years or more of experience as a product designer, with a focus on furniture and hardgoods.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of successful product designs, demonstrating creativity, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of form and function.
  • Proficiency in design software such as CAD, 3D modeling tools, and graphic design applications.
  • Excellent knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, and safety standards related to furniture and hardgoods production.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate design concepts and ideas clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing design requirements and constraints.
  • Leadership abilities and experience in mentoring junior designers.
  • Passion for design, a keen eye for aesthetics, and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences.
  • Knowledge of sustainable design practices and a commitment to environmental responsibility is a plus.
