Job brief

We are looking for a Network Performance Engineer with experience with the RIVERBED and network admin background on CISCO networks with analytical and problem-solving skills required to effectively participate in projects, strong verbal and written communications skills needed to interact with team members to make recommendations, and report findings to peers, management and customers. Candidates must encourage collaboration.


Responsibilities

• Understand and analyze customers' IT requirements and processes, and use this knowledge to achieve full adoption and utilization of performance management solutions to maximize business value.

• Perform hands-on deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting using performance monitoring tools.

• Perform proactive analytics to identify an anomaly in the environment and work with various stakeholders to showcase the findings and guide towards recommending fixes

• Work with application and network stakeholders; be part of the Incident Management team, NOC, and command center to handle P1/P2 incidents and provide root cause performance analysis.

• Take responsibility for the quality of personal deliverables at all times.

• Demonstrate high levels of technical expertise and experience and be a trusted advisor to the customer

  

Desired Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN systems
  • Understanding LAN/WAN TCP/IP and network design, protocols, network components & network operations at a CCNP level.
  • Solid experience in Network Performance Management (NPM), Performance Monitoring, Engineering & Analysis
  • Understanding of various application architectures and topologies that include thick client, web-based, multi-tier, micro-service, and service-oriented architectures
  • Understanding of Key Performance Metrics / Counters / KPIs that affect the performance of applications
  • Understanding of NPM concepts and how they apply in natural environment/deployments
  • Must have hands-on experience with deployment and usage of one or more of the following Application/Network/Infrastructure monitoring tools or similar for at least 2 years: Riverbed NPM suite, NetScout, SolarWinds, ExtraHop, Zabbix, or any other open-source NPM tool.
  • Experience with packet traces, protocol analyzers, and generic utilities is required (TCP dump, Wireshark, NetFlow, Packet analysis)
  • Experience in deploying and using the following tools: ThousandEyes, Datadog, Elastic, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, NewRelic, Aternity, and any open-source tool.
  • Ability to do correlative analysis and troubleshooting
  • Experience with monitoring software such as Riverbed NPM, Thousandeyes, etc. A big plus is to have experience with AWS Cloud Watch or Azure Monitor.
  • Experience integrating with ITSM systems ServiceNow

Understanding of Tools:

• Web application architecture and software like Web Servers (like Apache, IIS), J2EE Application Servers (Websphere, Weblogic, JBOSS), Databases (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) and/or Operating Systems (UNIX, Windows)

• Strong understanding of operating systems concepts from a Performance Perspective

• Scripting knowledge like Java, C, Python, Ruby, Perl, RESTful APIs, and Powershell is a great plus

Soft Skills:

• Excellent professional writing/presentation skills

• Ability to communicate findings effectively with technical and non-technical audiences is required

• A strong teamwork and contribution to a Professional Services team that values quality, execution, and integrity

• Self-driven and ready to learn techniques from the day-to-day exposure and experiences
