Job Title: Manager – Media Relations

Role Overview:

As the Manager of Media Relations, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the public image of the university by building and maintaining relationships with media outlets, managing our communications strategy, and ensuring consistent, impactful messaging across all platforms.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Media Strategy Development:
  • Design and implement a proactive media relations strategy to amplify the university's achievements, initiatives, and events.
  • Align media activities with the university’s broader communication goals and branding.
  1. Media Engagement:
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local, national, and international journalists and media outlets.
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for media inquiries and public statements when required.
  1. Content Creation:
  • Write and edit press releases, media advisories, op-eds, and feature articles.
  • Oversee the development of compelling multimedia content for social media and other digital platforms.
  1. Event Promotion:
  • Coordinate media coverage for university events, conferences, and public announcements.
  • Organize press briefings, interviews, and media tours.
  1. Crisis Communication:
  • Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address sensitive issues effectively.
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and transparent communication during emergencies.
  1. Performance Monitoring:
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare analytical reports to assess the effectiveness of media strategies.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and recommend actionable solutions.
  1. Collaboration:
  • Work closely with internal teams, including marketing, admissions, and academic departments, to support university-wide initiatives.
  • Ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • At least 5 to 8 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or corporate communications, preferably in the education sector.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain a strong network of media contacts.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with a flair for storytelling.
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency in media monitoring tools, analytics platforms, and social media management.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations with poise and professionalism.
