For an international organization in Geneva, Switzerland, we are urgently looking for a Full Remote Technical Architect – Data Applications with +6 years of Technical Architect experience of IT systems related to data like the Corporate Data Warehouse, the Data Hub, the Data Lake and all application data integrations flows. Candidates need to have experience with Microsoft Azure.


Candidates need to be willing to work normal office hours in Switzerland. This positions is long-term. Fluent English is required.


The Technical Architect – Data Applications is responsible for strategic and tactical technological initiatives for the Data Services application development. The Technical Architect helps to build the technological vision, drives technology strategy, and influences business partners and technology partners on strategic direction in general.


This is an expert role, responsible for the architecture of IT systems related to data like the Corporate Data Warehouse, the Data Hub, the Data Lake and all application data integrations flows. This role includes the design and review of technological solutions, proposing design changes, the choice of new edge technologies and the supervision of developers.


Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to define technological solutions to answer short- and long-term needs of the business for data management applications;
  • Work with the data analysis team and the business stakeholders to understand their needs and draft possible solutions;
  • Supervise and coordinate external resources on-site or offshore to ensure solutions are implemented as per the recommended design and general IT best practices;
  • Perform reviews of projects under implementation for their architecture, security, in compliance with Enterprise Architecture principles and quality;
  • Contribute to the Enterprise Architecture activities for all data related matters. Drive a standardized Solution Architecture program to advance consistent architecture practices for all critical IT data applications;
  • Coordinate with other IT teams to develop database architectures, coding standards, and quality assurance policies and procedures;
  • Responsible for maintaining the technical architecture documentation and change processes for the corporate repositories: Corporate Datawarehouse, Data Hub, Data Lake;
  • Plan and coordinate the execution of needed proof of concept to assess new technologies and/or new architectures. Also document the data flows and drive presentation to stakeholders;
  • Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective availability, protection, and integrity of data assets;
  • Contribute to streamlining the delivery of new projects through process optimizations, automation and by applying DevOps with GIT/BitBucket, Jira, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or similar CI/CD tools;
  • Ensure adoption of change management practices conform to organization-wide standards;
  • Ability to provide (informal) mentorship to team members to support their understanding of the architecture and aid in their technical development;


Profile:

  • Master degree;
  • +12 years of IT experience;
  • +6-8 years of Technical Architect experience of IT systems related to data like the Corporate Data Warehouse, the DataHub, the Data Lake and all application data integrations flows;
  • Certifications / trainings in the following technologies/domains: Data Management & Data Quality, Database Modelling, Data Warehouse and Data marts is an advantage;
  • Certification, training in the following technologies: Azure Services (ADF, ADL, PowerApps, LogicApps, DataBricks, Synapse…), Python, MS-SQL, MDS, Tableau, APIs, SOA, Informatica Data Management Suite (IDMC, EDC, PC, IICS etc), Dell Boomi, Snowflake;
  • Experience with data integration tools like Informatica / Dell Boomi / SSIS / ADF;
  • Strong understanding of Data Analytics platforms and ETL in the context of large data sets;
  • Experience/exposure to Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Catalog, Data Security, MDM, Data Virtualization, Data Sharing, Data Masking;
  • Experience in drafting data flow, architecture, and design diagrams to present current and future solutions to technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Relevant technical experience of data management systems, data warehousing methodology, data quality, data modelling, data governance and analytics;
  • Proven experience in designing solution architectures for data applications;
  • Proven experience in supervising and coaching developers (on-site/offshore);
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge in cloud data migration projects and implementation of solutions in Azure etc;
  • Extensive working knowledge of SQL and data manipulation languages;
  • Proven experience in data warehousing planning and development;
  • Good working knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws;
  • Experience in dynamic and fast-changing environment, with diverse cultures;
  • Fluent in English;
