Job Title: Senior Infrastructure Engineer – Windows, and VMware
Job Description:
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a deep understanding of Windows, Linux, and VMware technologies. This position involves leading the design, implementation, and management of our IT infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, efficient, and scalable. The successful candidate will have a strong technical background and be adept at problem-solving in complex environments.
Key Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Design and Deployment:
- Lead the design and deployment of infrastructure solutions leveraging Windows, Linux, and VMware platforms.
- Develop comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, configuration guides, and operational procedures.
- Ensure infrastructure solutions meet business needs and align with strategic IT goal
Systems Management and Optimization:
- Oversee the administration and maintenance of Windows and Linux servers.
- Conduct regular performance tuning, system upgrades, and patch management.
- Implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve system issues.
Virtualization Oversight:
- Manage and optimize VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi hosts.
- Perform VM provisioning, configuration, and management.
- Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for virtualized environments.
Security and Compliance:
- Implement robust security measures to protect IT infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct security assessments and audits, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Collaboration and Leadership:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure initiatives and resolve technical challenges.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and support staff.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
Backup and Recovery:
- Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans.
- Ensure regular backups are performed, verified, and tested.
- Manage data recovery processes to ensure minimal downtime and data loss.
Automation and Efficiency:
- Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Utilize automation tools to streamline system management tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Continually seek opportunities to enhance infrastructure through automation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on Windows, Linux, and VMware.
- Proven track record of designing and managing complex IT infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in Windows Server, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
- Proficient in Linux administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and related tools.
- Extensive experience with VMware technologies, including ESXi, vSphere, and vCenter.
- Strong understanding of networking principles, firewalls, and security best practices.
- Experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware) are highly desirable.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
