The HP Unix Server Engineer Specialist will be responsible for providing expert-level remote support for HP Unix servers. This role requires deep knowledge of HP Unix server environments, migration experience to Microsoft platforms, and storage management. The specialist will ensure optimal performance, troubleshooting, and maintenance of HP Unix servers and related systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide remote support for HP Unix server environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Perform system administration tasks, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of HP Unix servers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware and software issues related to HP Unix servers.
  • Monitor system performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to improve server performance.
  • Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies.
  • Manage and maintain storage solutions, ensuring data integrity and availability.
  • Plan and execute migrations from HP Unix servers to Microsoft platforms.
  • Maintain documentation of server configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and support of HP Unix servers within the broader IT infrastructure.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to HP Unix server management, Microsoft migration, and storage solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in HP Unix server administration and support.
  • Proven experience in migrating from HP Unix servers to Microsoft platforms.
  • Extensive knowledge of HP Unix hardware, operating systems, and related technologies.
  • Strong experience in storage solutions and management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies and cloud environments is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote work environment.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., HP-UX Certified System Administrator, Microsoft Certified Professional) are highly desirable.
