Job Purpose: Responsible for implementing employment-related compliances across multiple Renewable Energy offices and sites in India.


Job Context: The Lead - ER / IR & Compliances operates in India's Renewable Energy sector, overseeing compliance with complex labor laws across multiple sites and offices, requiring extensive travel.


Major Challenges: Regulatory Complexity, Geographical Diversity, Contractual Workforce Management, Frequently Changing Labour laws, Interdisciplinary Skill Requirement, Stakeholder Management


*Principal Accountabilities*

Compliance Management:

  • Manage the lifecycle of contractual staff across the organization, ensuring operational and cost efficiency measures are implemented.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders/vendors to ensure labor compliance requirements are met according to applicable laws.
  • Liaise with relevant authorities to ensure timely and accurate compliance.
  • Respond to and address various notices from authorities, ensuring closure of gaps or complaints.
  • Analyze compliance trends and develop corresponding workforce management plans.
  • Conduct quarterly audits of statutory and social security laws for all sites and offices, maintaining MIS for the same.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of all cases and compliance register documents.
  • Ensure labor compliance and paperwork are completed before work commencement and team deployment on sites.


Audits & Risk Management:

  • Conduct periodic internal reviews or inspections to ensure compliance procedures are followed.
  • Identify compliance issues requiring follow-up or investigation, conduct or direct internal investigations.
  • Consult and coordinate with internal/external parties to address labor compliance issues and find appropriate resolutions.


Process Improvement and Communication:

  • Design or implement improvements in communication, monitoring, or enforcement of compliance standards.
  • Manage all labor law compliances applicable to the company and its contractors, including registrations, periodic returns, payments/contributions, and maintaining various registers.
  • Stay updated on amendments in labor laws, rules, and procedures across India, analyzing their applicability/impact on the company.


Relationships:

Internal:

Collaborate with HR, Legal, Business Functions, Finance, and Senior Management for workforce management, legal compliance, operational integration, financial aspects, and strategic guidance.

External:

Engage with regulatory authorities, vendors, legal advisors, industry associations, and community stakeholders for compliance adherence, legal guidance, industry updates, and maintaining positive community relations.


Qualification / Experience / Knowledge Required:

Essential: Master's in labor relations, HRM, or MSW.

Minimum 10 years of extensive experience in legal, labor laws, and statutory legislation compliances in India, including state-specific labor laws.

Good to Have: LLB. Preferred industry experience in Oil and Gas, Energy, Power, or Infrastructure.

Technical Skills: Excellent practical understanding of Employment Law.

Soft Skills: Strong collaborator with good decision-making and interpersonal skills, negotiation & Influencing skills
