Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Veritas NetBackup Team Lead (SME/L3) and a Admin (L2) to join our professional services team to oversee and manage backup and recovery operations within a complex enterprise environment for our clients. 

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup (10.x, 9.x,8.x,7.x etc), Backup migration including Netbackup/Flex Appliances (SME/L3 level expertise) and hands-on exp min 3 years for Admin (L2) position. Veritas (Cohesity) Certified Specialist and/or understanding of Veritas InfoScale/VCS is a definite plus. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage escalations while ensuring high availability and data protection for critical business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the NetBackup team (for Team lead position) , providing guidance and support for L1 and L2 engineers. Manage and meet defined escalation KPIs.
  • Design, implement, and manage Veritas NetBackup solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex backup, recovery, and storage issues at an L3/SME level.
  • Perform backup infrastructure upgrades, patching, and optimizations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure backup policies, strategies, and best practices align with business needs.
  • Manage escalations from L2 engineers and coordinate with Veritas support when necessary.
  • Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, and problem resolution for backup-related issues.
  • Define and document backup and recovery processes, SOPs, and technical documentation.
  • Implement disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BC) plans, conducting regular DR testing.
  • Ensure compliance with security, regulatory, and audit requirements related to data protection.
  • Provide mentorship, training, and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in Veritas NetBackup administration, with at least 3+ years at Team Lead/L3/SME level. Min 2-4 years of hands-on exp on Veritas Netbackup/Backup operations for Admin (L2) position.
  • Hands-on experience with NetBackup Appliances, Flex Appliances, and OpsCenter.
  • Strong expertise in backup scheduling, policy management, and retention strategies.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and cloud storage integration.
  • Experience in troubleshooting backup failures, media management, and performance tuning.
  • Veritas InfoScale (VCS) experience is desirable, including clustering, volume management, and replication.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based backup solutions and hybrid environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation (Shell, PowerShell, Python, etc.) for backup process enhancements.
  • Strong incident management, problem-solving, and escalation handling skills.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and customer relationship management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology or equivalent. Diploma in computer science/Information Technology for Admin (L2) position.
  • Veritas Certified Specialist (VCS) or Veritas Certified Professional (VCP) in NetBackup.
  • Experience in managing enterprise backup environments across diverse platforms (Windows, Linux, UNIX).
  • Exposure to ITIL processes for change management, incident management, and service delivery.
