Job Summary:


We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Math Expert specializing in crop insurance. The ideal candidate will have strong actuarial and statistical expertise to assess risks, develop models, and design policies tailored to crop insurance. You will play a critical role in ensuring that insurance products are accurately priced, aligned with regulations, and support the agricultural sector effectively.


Responsibilities:


  • Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for crop insurance, evaluating policy vulnerabilities and assessing climate-related risks and crop loss probabilities.
  • Model Development: Build and maintain actuarial models for pricing, reserving, and forecasting of crop insurance products. Ensure models are robust, accurate, and align with industry best practices.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze large datasets involving crop production, weather patterns, and market data to determine probabilities and costs. Utilize advanced data analytics techniques for precise projections.
  • Policy Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and price crop insurance policies. Ensure policies comply with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Reporting: Prepare clear and concise reports, presenting complex data and actuarial findings to non-technical stakeholders, helping them make informed decisions.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed on regulatory developments related to crop insurance and ensure that all actuarial processes and policies are compliant.


Requirements:


  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in actuarial analysis, preferably within crop insurance or agricultural risk management. Completion of actuarial exams is strongly preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical software such as Excel, SQL, and experience with actuarial tools. Strong grasp of advanced analytics, such as time series regression and other predictive modeling techniques.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain complex mathematical models and risk assessments to non-technical teams and stakeholders.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Certification in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or Agricultural Risk Assessment.
  • Experience working on agricultural insurance programs or similar risk-based insurance products.
  • Familiarity with climate risk modeling and its application to crop insurance policies.
