Job Summary:

The Windows Administrator on Google Cloud is responsible for the design, deployment, and maintenance of Windows-based infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role involves managing Windows virtual machines, Active Directory, and related services, ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of Windows environments. The Windows Administrator collaborates with other teams to support application developers and DevOps in achieving their objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • GCP Infrastructure Management: Deploy, configure, and manage Windows Server-based virtual machines on Google Cloud using Google Compute Engine (GCE).
  • Active Directory Management: Design and administer Active Directory (AD) environments, including domains, trusts, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), and user/group accounts.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices for Windows systems, including managing access controls, firewalls, and monitoring for security breaches.
  • Patch Management: Ensure timely application of Windows security patches, updates, and service packs to maintain system security and compliance.
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor and tune Windows-based systems to achieve optimal performance, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks.
  • Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies for critical Windows-based systems and applications.
  • PowerShell Scripting and Automation: Develop PowerShell scripts and automation workflows to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex Windows-related issues, collaborating with other teams as needed to identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Monitoring and Logging: Set up monitoring and logging solutions to proactively identify issues and respond to alerts promptly.
  • Incident Response: Participate in incident response activities to address and mitigate system outages and security incidents.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, including DevOps, Networking, and Security, to ensure seamless integration and operations.
  • Training and Knowledge Sharing: Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies related to Windows and Google Cloud, and share knowledge within the team.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Proven experience as a Windows Administrator in a cloud-based environment, preferably with Google Cloud Platform.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud services, especially Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Networking, and Cloud IAM.
  • PowerShell scripting skills and familiarity with automation tools.
  • Experience with security best practices and the ability to apply them to Windows environments.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and virtualization technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
