Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design Engineer to join our medical device development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in PCB design for medical devices, with expertise in analog and digital circuit design, signal integrity, and regulatory compliance. This role is crucial in developing safe, reliable, and innovative medical hardware solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop complex multilayer PCBs for medical devices, ensuring compliance with FDA and other relevant regulatory standards
  • Create schematic captures and PCB layouts using industrystandard EDA tools
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers to integrate PCB designs into medical device systems
  • Implement design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT) principles in PCB layouts
  • Conduct signal integrity, power integrity, and EMC/EMI analyses to ensure PCB designs meet medical device performance and safety requirements
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of PCB design processes
  • Develop and maintain documentation for regulatory submissions and quality management systems
  • Stay current with emerging trends in PCB design technologies and medical device regulations


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in PCB design, with at least 3 years specifically in medical device development
  • Proficiency in PCB design software such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or similar EDA tools
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles
  • Experience with highspeed digital design and signal integrity analysis
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations, IEC 60601, ISO 13485, and other relevant standards for medical device hardware
  • Knowledge of EMC/EMI design techniques and regulatory requirements for medical devices
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT) in a regulated environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation Engineering or Biomedical Engineering
  • Certification in PCB design or medical device development
  • Experience with flex and rigidflex PCB designs commonly used in medical devices
  • Knowledge of DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and risk management in medical device development
  • Familiarity with 3D mechanical CAD software for PCB integration (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Experience with designing PCBs for batteryoperated and lowpower medical devices
  • Understanding of sterilization processes and their impact on PCB materials and design
