The Cloud Engineer-FinOps role will help in identifying cost optimization opportunities and will be responsible for developing and implementing cost optimization strategies to reduce the cost of cloud services while maintaining quality and performance. You will collaborate with other technical teams, such as software development, data engineering and DevOps to ensure that cloud-based applications are designed as cost efficient as possible.

Key Responsibilities:


  • You will work as part of a team establishing and enforcing governance policies and FinOps best practices to ensure responsible cloud spending and resource utilization
  • Automating tools - Implementing and managing automated tools to help identify cost trends and anomalies
  • Identifying opportunities for right-sizing of resources, deleting idle resources, spot instance utilization, and other cost-saving mechanisms available
  • Create reports, dashboards and alerts to track spending and usage trends and the potential impact of cost optimizations
  • Work closely with the product development teams to analyze the cloud infrastructure and identify opportunities for cost optimization
  • Focus on creating reusable templates for automating recovery steps across NCR managed devices and platforms running in GCP or Azure
  • Increase efficiency, eliminate downtime and drive performance across all platforms
  • Write scripts and automation code to provision software deployed in Cloud
  • Developing integrations between our third-party tools (ServiceNow, JIRA, Github)
  • Work with development and support teams on problem management efforts
  • Provide operational support to the automation platform
  • Assist with reviewing documentation for migrating applications from on-prem to cloud



Required Skills and Experience:


  • 4+ years of experience working with GCP/Azure Cloud infrastructure/network
  • 4+ years of experience working with GCP/Azure Cloud project/subscription constructs
  • 2+ years of experience in developing and implementing FinOps/Cloud cost optimization strategies
  • Experience with FinOps/Cloud Cost Management tools and be comfortable with data analysis and reporting
  • Deep understanding of cloud costs and the various alternatives
  • Proven ability to drive efficiencies and cost savings
  • 2+ years of experience writing applications in Python, Java, or Go
  • 2+ years working with CI/CD tools and technology; Jenkins, Github Actions and Artifactory
  • 2+ years working with IAC/CM technology; like Terraform, Helm and Chef
  • Ability to document and publish recommendations and guidance
