Designation: AWS Migration Leader

About the Role:

As an AWS Migration Leader, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the migration of on-premises infrastructure and applications to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud platform. Leveraging your deep understanding of AWS services, best practices, and migration methodologies, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop migration strategies, design scalable architectures, and execute migration projects effectively. Your role will involve assessing existing environments, identifying migration opportunities, and implementing solutions that optimize performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency in the cloud.

What You'll Be Doing:

Assessment and Analysis: Conduct thorough assessments of on-premises infrastructure, workloads, and applications to evaluate their readiness for migration to AWS. Analyse dependencies, performance bottlenecks, and security requirements to develop migration plans tailored to specific business needs.

Migration Strategy Development: Define comprehensive migration strategies aligned with business objectives, considering factors such as cost optimization, scalability, and regulatory compliance. Collaborate with stakeholders to establish migration priorities, timelines, and success criteria. Architecture Design: Architect scalable and resilient solutions on AWS that leverage native services and best practices, encompassing compute, storage, networking, security, and governance aspects. Design migration approaches, including lift-and-shift, re-platforming, re-factoring, and hybrid cloud models, to achieve desired outcomes.

Implementation and Execution: Lead migration projects from planning to execution, coordinating activities across technical teams, vendors, and stakeholders. Provide technical guidance and oversight during migration activities, ensuring adherence to AWS best practices, security standards, and performance targets.

Optimization and Cost Management: Identify opportunities to optimize resources, improve performance, and reduce costs through rightsizing, automation, and utilization of AWS cost management tools. Implement monitoring and governance mechanisms to track resource usage, enforce policies, and optimize cloud spend.

Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with migration activities, including data security, compliance, and operational disruptions. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, data protection laws, and AWS security best practices throughout the migration lifecycle.

Knowledge Sharing and Training: Foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning by providing training, workshops, and documentation on AWS migration best practices and tools. Collaborate with internal teams to build migration competency and capabilities within the organization.

What You'll Need:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred. Extensive experience (15+ years) in architecting, designing, and implementing AWS solutions, with a focus on migration projects.

Strong proficiency in AWS services, including compute (e.g., EC2, Lambda), storage (e.g., S3, EBS), networking (e.g., VPC, Direct Connect), and databases (e.g., RDS, DynamoDB).

In-depth knowledge of migration methodologies, such as lift-and-shift, re-platforming, and hybrid cloud architectures.

Demonstrated expertise in designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on AWS, with a focus on performance optimization and operational excellence.

Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence decision-making and drive consensus among diverse teams.
