Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced Freelance Tool Designer specializing in plastic injection molding to join our team on a contract basis. This role involves designing, developing, and modifying high quality injection molding tools to support our production needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tooling and mold design, with the ability to deliver precise and efficient solutions within project timelines. As a freelance team member, you will collaborate remotely with our inhouse engineering and production teams to bring concepts to production ready designs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and optimize plastic injection molding tools to meet quality and efficiency standards.
Create CAD models and detailed technical drawings, ensuring precision in tooling and mold design.
Perform feasibility analyses for new projects, assessing design specifications, materials, and tooling requirements.
Work closely with inhouse engineering and production teams to ensure manufacturability and production quality.
Troubleshoot design and manufacturing issues related to tooling and injection molding processes.
Deliver project updates and adhere to contract timelines, maintaining open communication with the internal team.
Required Qualifications:
5 to 15 years of experience in tool design, specifically in plastic injection molding.
Proficiency in CAD software UG NX Mold Wizard for tooling and mold design.
Expertise in tooling design, mold design, and injection molding processes.
Indepth knowledge of plastics materials and manufacturing processes for moldmaking.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Strong problemsolving and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset, even in a remote environment.
