Quantum Computing Research Scientist


At QpiAI, we are a team of scientists and engineers working to make quantum computing solutions available to enterprise customers in the finance, logistics, pharmaceuticals, materials, space, telecommunication, automotive, and energy industry. We are looking for a Quantum Research Scientist to expand our applied research capabilities in quantum computing for machine learning, optimization, and simulation and accelerate quantum adoption.


Responsibilities:


  • Execute R&D of proprietary quantum computing applications with a focus on near-term opportunities in machine learning, optimization, and simulation.
  • Develop quantum-inspired and hybrid quantum-classical optimization algorithms for routing, scheduling, allocation, matching, and covering applications.
  • To develop and implement variational quantum algorithms for near-term quantum devices and incorporate noise modeling and error mitigation.
  • Collaborate with quantum software engineers to simulate, benchmark, and analyze the performance of novel algorithms on large-scale problems.
  • Collaborate with client R&D units and BUs to identify use cases and solutions.
  • Provide patents, inventions, and publications in quantum computing, quantum machine learning, quantum optimization, and quantum simulation.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of quantum machine learning: QAOA, VQE, PQCs, encoding methods, Kernel methods, Boltzmann and Born machines, quantum generative models, and HHL quantum algorithms.
  • Knowledge of optimization: Energy minimization in Ising model, linear, quadratic, mixed-integer constraint programming, combinatorial optimization, SAT-based optimization, local search, simulated annealing, genetic algorithms, tabu search.
  • Hands-on experience in AI/ML and quantum programming, libraries, and frameworks to implement hybrid quantum-classical variational algorithms.


Qualifications:

  • MS/Ph.D. in Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or any other intersecting area, with 2+ years of academic or industry research experience in developing quantum algorithms for real-world problems.
  • Excellent track record in quantum computing research demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, patents, and independent or collaborative projects.
  • The candidate should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must be able to coordinate with programmers and algorithm scientists.
  • The candidate should have a strong desire to learn, collaborate, and mentor.
