Job Overview:
As a Solar Design Engineer, you will work closely with our engineering team to design, plan, and execute solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. You will gain hands-on experience in solar energy project design, including site assessments, system sizing, equipment selection, and system layout. This role provides an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates to develop their skills and knowledge in the renewable energy sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design and Layout: Assist in the design of solar PV systems using software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar tools, ensuring optimal system performance, safety, and efficiency.
- Site Analysis: Conduct on-site or virtual assessments to determine the feasibility of solar installations, including shading analysis, roof condition evaluation, and other relevant factors.
- System Sizing and Configuration: Calculate and recommend system sizes based on customer needs, project specifications, energy consumption, and budget.
- Equipment Selection: Assist in the selection of appropriate solar components, such as PV modules, inverters, mounting structures, and other balance-of-system equipment, while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Documentation and Reports: Prepare and maintain project documentation, including drawings, design reports, and material lists, with a strong focus on quality control.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on and ensure designs comply with local, state, and national building codes, electrical codes, and other relevant regulations.
- Collaboration: Work with project managers, senior engineers, installation teams, and clients to meet project goals and deliver high-quality, on-time designs.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar design tools; basic knowledge of electrical concepts, solar energy fundamentals, and renewable energy technologies.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in system sizing, energy yield estimation, and shading analysis.
- Attention to Detail: Accuracy in calculations, design specifications, and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Learning Mindset: Willingness to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced, growing industry.
Preferred Skills (Not Mandatory):
- Knowledge of local electrical and building codes.
- Basic understanding of grid-connected and off-grid PV systems.
- Any prior internship or project experience in solar or renewable energy.
