Position Overview:

As the Power Electronics Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing the design, development, and integration of power electronics solutions for both conventional and electric vehicle applications. You will oversee the development of critical components such as inverters, DC-DC converters, motor controllers, and battery management systems (BMS) for both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and electric vehicle platforms. Your role will be vital in ensuring that our power electronics systems meet the highest standards of quality, reliability, and performance across a range of automotive applications.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Lead a team of power electronics engineers responsible for designing and developing power electronics solutions for both conventional and electric vehicle applications.
  • Provide technical direction, coaching, and mentorship to the team, fostering an environment of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate across functions with mechanical, systems, and software engineers to ensure the effective integration of power electronics into overall vehicle systems.

Power Electronics Design & Development:

  • Oversee the design and development of power electronics components such as motor controllers, inverters, DC-DC converters, and battery management systems (BMS) for both ICE and EV applications.
  • Ensure all designs meet automotive industry standards, including safety, reliability, and performance requirements.
  • Drive product development processes from concept to production, ensuring all power electronics components are manufacturable, cost-effective, and scalable.
  • Ensure power electronics systems meet the highest quality standards and are compliant with industry certifications such as IATF 16949, ISO 26262 (functional safety), and other relevant regulations.
  • Oversee the development of test plans and validation procedures to ensure product performance and compliance with automotive safety standards.

Project Management:

  • Develop and manage detailed project timelines, budgets, and resource allocations for power electronics projects across conventional and electric vehicle platforms.
  • Monitor and track project progress, ensuring that milestones and deadlines are met and that products are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Provide regular updates to senior management on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors of power electronics components and materials, ensuring the highest standards of quality and cost-efficiency.
  • Lead supplier selection and qualification processes, working closely with procurement and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 13+ years of experience in power electronics design, development, and management in the automotive sector, with a focus on both conventional and electric vehicle technologies.
  • Proven experience with designing and developing power electronics components such as motor controllers, inverters, DC-DC converters, and BMS.
  • Strong background in the development and integration of power electronics solutions for both ICE and EV applications.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
  • Deep understanding of power electronics technologies, including electric motor drives, energy storage systems, and power conversion circuits.
  • Expertise in automotive power electronics standards and regulations such as ISO 26262 (functional safety), IATF 16949, and EMC/EMI requirements.
