About the Organization:

The World of Performing Arts (WOPA) is a visionary initiative aimed at transforming Pune into a vibrant cultural hub. Starting with theatre in its first year, WOPA will expand to include dance, music, and other performing arts, positioning Pune as a destination for diverse and enriching artistic experiences.

Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Project Director to lead WOPA’s operations, fundraising, and audience engagement initiatives. This part-time consultancy role (20 hours per week) is critical in shaping and securing the success of this transformative cultural initiative.

What Success Looks Like in This Role:

  • Securing financial sustainability through fundraising and sponsorships.
  • Developing high-quality performing arts programming and events.
  • Building a loyal and engaged audience community.
  • Establishing partnerships with artists, sponsors, and organizations.
Responsibilities
  • Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with the board to define and implement WOPA’s vision, goals, and program frameworks.
  • Fundraising & Financial Management: Lead sponsorship efforts, donor relations, and budgeting to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Event Management: Oversee the planning and execution of annual programs, including theatre productions, workshops, and outreach events.
  • Audience Engagement: Develop marketing strategies and initiatives to attract diverse audiences and foster long-term relationships.
  • Team Coordination: Hire and manage personnel, including communications and technical teams, ensuring smooth execution of events.
  • Stakeholder Relations: Represent WOPA at public events, advocate for its mission, and engage with donors, sponsors, and partners.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in project management, arts administration, or a related leadership role.
  • Proven track record in fundraising, sponsorship acquisition, and donor relations.
  • Knowledge of the performing arts sector, including audience development strategies.
  • Strong project management and financial management skills.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi (Marathi proficiency preferred).
