Reports To: Lead Developer / Project Manager


Key Responsibilities:

• Asterisk Development & Configuration:

Develop and customize Asterisk PBX systems, dial plans, call routing, and integrate Asterisk with external APIs and third-party software solutions.

• SIP/VOIP Protocol Implementation:

Work with SIP, IAX, and other telephony protocols to build scalable VOIP solutions. Troubleshoot and optimize voice and video call quality, signaling, and media paths.

• Custom Application Development:

Design and implement custom applications that integrate with Asterisk for client-specific requirements (e.g., call centers, IVR systems, auto-attendant services).

• System Integration & Automation:

Integrate Asterisk with CRMs, billing systems, and other business tools. Automate provisioning, configuration management, and reporting tasks.

• Troubleshooting & Optimization:

Provide support for Asterisk-based systems, including monitoring, debugging, and resolving issues related to voice quality, connectivity, and server performance.

• Collaboration & Documentation:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, QA, and support teams. Create and maintain clear documentation for all development work, including code, architecture, and configurations.

• Upgrade & Maintenance:

Keep the Asterisk servers and systems up-to-date with the latest patches and security fixes. Provide maintenance and enhancements to the existing platforms.

• Quality Assurance:

Conduct code reviews, implement unit testing, and ensure the overall quality of the code and system performance.



Qualifications & Skills:

• Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

• Technical Skills:

o Strong hands-on experience with Asterisk PBX, Asterisk Manager Interface (AMI), Asterisk Gateway Interface (AGI), and Dialplan scripting.

o Proficient in VOIP protocols such as SIP, IAX, RTP, and STUN.

o Strong knowledge of Linux systems (CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.), especially for configuring and maintaining Asterisk servers.

o Experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relational databases.

o Familiarity with WebRTC/ WebSockets, and other real-time communication technologies.

o Knowledge of call center software, IVR systems, and call routing algorithms is a plus.

o Ability to work with APIs, and develop integrations with external systems like CRM, billing, and customer support tools.

• Experience:

o Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in Asterisk development and administration.

o Experience with VOIP-related projects in enterprise environments.

o Knowledge of call center technologies and software (e.g., predictive dialers, call queuing systems, etc.) is preferred.
