Job Title: Senior Manager - Contract and Procurement- Shipbuilding


Location: Pipavav


The Senior Manager - Contract and Procurement is responsible for leading the procurement and contracting activities within the organization. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and company policies. The primary responsibilities include negotiating contracts, managing purchase orders, evaluating bids, developing procurement strategies, and fostering strong relationships with key suppliers.


Responsibilities:


Purchase Order & Contract Negotiation:


  • Lead negotiations with vendors and contractors to secure favorable terms and conditions for contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure contract compliance and mitigate potential risks associated with procurement activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to drive long-term value and strategic partnerships.


Purchase Order Placement:


  • Manage the end-to-end process of purchase order placement, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to procurement policies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as project teams, operations, and finance, to understand procurement requirements and align them with business objectives.


Bids Evaluation:


  • Oversee the evaluation of bids and proposals from suppliers, considering cost-effectiveness, quality, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Work closely with technical and project teams to assess the technical aspects of bids and ensure they meet the required specifications.


Procurement Planning:


  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Stay informed about market trends, pricing, and supply chain dynamics to make informed procurement decisions and negotiate favorable terms.


Supplier Relationship Management:


  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of suppliers and implement improvement plans when necessary.


Risk Management:


  • Identify and assess potential risks in the supply chain, such as supply disruptions, quality issues, or regulatory changes.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies to manage and minimize risks associated with procurement activities.
  • Stay abreast of industry regulations and compliance requirements to ensure adherence.


Stock/Inventory Levels Control:


  • Oversee the management of stock data, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with finance and inventory teams to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs while meeting operational requirements.


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Postgraduate degree is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP MM, and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to achieve favorable terms and conditions in contracts.
  • Comprehensive awareness and knowledge of procurement processes, contracting, commercial terms, vendor management, regulations, and market trends.
  • Excellent analytical and contract management skills.
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
