ECU CORE TEST_ TEST AUTOMATION [LEAD ENGINEER]

As a Test Automation and GUI Designer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining automated test frameworks, scripts, and graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for testing automotive software and embedded systems. You will work closely with software developers, test engineers, and designers to ensure the quality, reliability, and usability of automotive applications and user interfaces.


The main job responsibilities will be:


Test Automation Development:


  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts for functional, regression, and performance testing of automotive software applications.
  • Implement test automation strategies and best practices to increase testing efficiency, coverage, and reliability.
  • Integrate automated tests into continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines to support agile development processes.


GUI Design and Development:


  • Design intuitive and user-friendly graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for automotive infotainment systems, instrument clusters, and other in-vehicle displays.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers and human factors engineers to create wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that meet user experience (UX) and usability requirements.
  • Develop GUI software components using industry-standard frameworks and technologies, ensuring compatibility with automotive hardware platforms and operating systems.

Test Case Design and Execution:

  • Define test cases and test scenarios based on software requirements, user stories, and design specifications.
  • Execute manual and automated tests to validate GUI functionality, responsiveness, and visual aesthetics across different screen resolutions, languages, and environments.
  • Analyze test results, identify defects, and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues in a timely manner.


Performance Optimization and Compatibility Testing:


  • Optimize GUI performance and responsiveness through code profiling, resource management, and rendering optimization techniques.
  • Conduct compatibility testing to ensure GUI compatibility with various automotive hardware configurations, operating systems, and software versions.


Documentation and Reporting:


  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test reports to track testing progress and outcomes.
  • Document GUI design specifications, style guides, and design patterns to facilitate collaboration and consistency across development teams.

Collaboration and Communication:


  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software developers, system architects, UX designers, and product managers to align on project requirements and priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on testing activities, issues, and recommendations for improvement.


Basic Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in GUI test automation, preferably in the automotive industry.
  • Proven experience in test automation, GUI design, or software development in the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ for test automation and GUI development.
  • Familiarity with GUI design tools and frameworks such as Qt, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and tools such as Selenium, Appium, Robot Framework, or Squish.
  • Knowledge of automotive software development processes, standards, and protocols (e.g., AUTOSAR, ISO 26262, CAN).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware issues.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with automotive infotainment systems, digital instrument clusters, and heads-up displays (HUDs).
  • Familiarity with human factors engineering principles and usability testing methodologies.
  • Knowledge of embedded software development, real-time operating systems (RTOS), and automotive communication protocols (e.g., CAN, Ethernet).
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git), issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA), and agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Understanding of software quality assurance (SQA) principles, including test planning, test case design, and defect tracking.
