Position Value Proposition

The Senior Engineer works collaboratively with other Engineers, Designers, and Project Managers to provide quality Engineering for DBM Vircon clients whilst overseeing the delivery and growth of junior team members. The Senior Engineer is responsible for providing engineering calculations, design intent, and technical input whilst assisting with project delivery to ensure deliverables are to the desired standard and executed within project deadlines.

This role will also include assisting with the development of engineering company standards, procedures, and workflows.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a mechanical engineering and drafting team to support project delivery
• Serve as principal technical resource and subject matter expert in the execution of engineering portions of multi-discipline projects;
• Perform detailed pipe stress analysis using software tools such as CAESAR II, AutoPIPE, and other relevant applications.
• Evaluate and analyze piping systems to ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and project specifications.
• Conduct stress analysis for different conditions, including thermal expansion, vibration, seismic, and dynamic loads.
• Develop and review piping layouts and support designs to optimize system performance and safety.
• Collaborate with piping designers, project engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure the effective integration of piping systems within the overall project.
• Prepare stress analysis reports and documentation, including technical specifications, datasheets, and calculation sheets.
• Identify and resolve technical issues related to piping stress, including field support and troubleshooting.
• Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in pipe stress analysis techniques and software.
• Ensure all engineering deliverables align with industry codes, standards, and client requirements.
• Estimate, price and assist with tendering on engineering design packages;
• Review, check, and approve design deliverables in accordance with the company’s Quality Assurance system.
• Managing and reporting on project progress and forecasting;
• Coach and mentor less experienced engineers and drafters to develop their technical skills and knowledge

Work Experience

• 8+ years of professional experience in the energy, mining, and industrial sectors, working as a senior engineer on both brownfield and greenfield projects;
• Previous experience leading and managing a small to medium-sized group of engineers;
• Previous experience either working on-site in construction and commissioning or within a fabrication, yard assisting with structural, mechanical, and piping fabrication deliverables would be highly advantageous;
• Experience in pricing and delivering engineering scopes of work.

Education/Training

• Bachelor of Engineering from an accredited university in the following fields of study: Mechanical Engineering.

Specialized Knowledge – Certificates & Licenses

As outlined in the Core Competencies, an individual must have a thorough knowledge and an advanced understanding of each competency outlined above to carry out the essential functions of this position.

Software & Technology

• Expert in relevant engineering modeling and analysis software e.g., AutoPIPE & Caesar II etc.;
• Any Modelling software (eg. Plant 3D & AutoCAD ) & Navisworks experience preferred;
• The position will require the frequent use of MS Office applications, MS CRM, or equivalent and proprietary applications (e.g., JMS).
