Public Relations Officer

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) at [School Name] is responsible for managing the school’s external communications and fostering relationships with the local and international community. With a focus on offline marketing strategies, the PRO will promote the school’s image and the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to build a strong brand presence. This role involves engaging with various stakeholders including parents, students, alumni, and media, while working closely with the school leadership to enhance the institution’s public image.
Key Responsibilities:Media Relations and Communication:- Serve as the school’s primary spokesperson for offline media, including newspapers, radio, and television outlets.
- Develop press releases, statements, and informational kits for media distribution.
- Build relationships with local, regional, and national media representatives to secure coverage for school events, programs, and achievements.
- Monitor print media for school-related coverage and ensure that the school's presence is portrayed positively.
- Lead offline marketing efforts, such as creating brochures, flyers, and promotional material to be distributed at local events, education fairs, and within the community.
- Organize school events, including open houses, school fairs, and parent orientation programs, ensuring these activities are well-publicized and run smoothly.
- Collaborate with the admissions team to host in-person tours and information sessions that highlight the school’s IB curriculum and facilities.
- Oversee the production of annual reports, magazines, and other printed materials that communicate the school’s successes and initiatives.
- Develop and nurture strong relationships with parents, alumni, prospective students, and the local community.
- Plan and execute outreach activities that promote the school’s involvement in community service and local events.
- Organize and attend events to represent the school within educational networks, government bodies, and local organizations.
- Collaborate with IB networks and educational conferences to strengthen the school's reputation and positioning.
- Manage communication strategies during crises, including drafting official statements and addressing media queries.
- Coordinate with the school leadership to ensure clear and timely communication to parents, students, and staff during emergencies or sensitive situations.
- Work closely with the school administration to ensure clear communication between faculty, staff, students, and parents.
- Assist with drafting and disseminating internal newsletters, announcements, and updates.
- Act as the liaison between the school and various community groups, government bodies, and educational associations.
- Promote the school’s achievements through participation in offline conferences, education fairs, and community engagements.
- Promote the advantages of the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to prospective families and local stakeholders.
- Highlight student achievements in IB programs and communicate the value of an IB education in the global context.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of experience in public relations, marketing, or communication roles, preferably in an educational setting.
- Experience working with international or IB schools is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience with print media, event coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
- Strong networking skills to build relationships with community members and media.
- Knowledge: Understanding of the IB framework and educational marketing strategies.
- Ability to think strategically and proactively manage communication efforts.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects at once.
- A passion for education and commitment to promoting international learning environments.
- Professionalism and discretion when managing sensitive information.
- Full-time position with occasional evening and weekend work for events and meetings.
