JOBDESCRIPTION:
  • WM has aSenior Controls Engineer position available in AddisonIL.
  • This person will provide project managementand hardware engineering leadership in delivering automationsystems for a wide variety of industries.
  • Thisposition requires demonstrated technical proficiency inimplementing automation solutions with PLC DCS HMI and SCADAplatforms.
  • The Project Engineer will interactdirectly with the customer and lead a team of WunderlichMalecengineers in identifying requirements developing specifications andshepherding automation solutions through the productionprocess.
  • This position is a leadership rolewithin the business unit and requires strong problemsolving abilitywellbalanced people skills an aptitude for business efficiency andan interest in creating partnerships.
  • TheProject Engineer demonstrates success by securing repeat work withboth new and existingcustomers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Thisposition requires the ability to deliver innovative automationsolutions and design standards either selfdirected or as a leaderof a team.
  • The candidate must have the abilityto conceptualize detail and implement control systems forindustrial processes and machinery that meet our customersrequirements.
  • This involves the development ofa control system architecture selecting the components to be useddetailing schematic diagrams and system documentation andfunctional knowledge of PLC/HMI/SCADAsystems.
  • This position requires indepthknowledge of Controls hardware including Control Panel designUL508A familiarity Motor Control Centers Hazardous area paneldesign and industrialinstrumentation.
  • Engineering experience withmultiple different voltage levels required.
  • Forlarger systems experience with industrial networking used toconnect control system components and instrumentation ispreferred.
  • The Project Engineer would designdetail and implement a variety of fiber wired and wireless systemsusing industrial protocols (Ethernet/IP ProfiNET Modbusetc.)
  • The ideal candidate must have a diverseengineering skillset with the ability to work independently. Willact as technical lead on projects and guide lowerlevel engineersand technicians.
  • This position also requiresperforming the Project management role on some projects instead ofhardware engineering or in addition to.
  • Thiswill involve:Developing project execution plans work breakdownstructures and associated budgets
  • Taskprioritization and scheduling task ordering time tracking andreporting.
  • Financial tracking and reportingearly problem identification
  • Conflictmanagement/resolution leading and supporting a team and attendingproject status meetings.
  • Overseeing dailyoperations and activities of projects up to$1.5M
  • This position is often responsible forensuring the overall profitability of theproject.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/ControlEngineering Mechanical Engineering Chemical Engineering or ComputerScience is required.
  • Experience Greater than 10 years with capabilities in belowareas is preferred:
  • Extensive experience indesign of electrical schematics including power distribution of480VAC 230VAC 208VAC 240VAC120VAC and24VDC.
  • Background in Hazardous Location ControlSystem Design including Intrinsically Safe Circuits Purged PanelsExplosion Proof Panels and Division 2 PanelDesign.
  • Experience with Surge Protection forPower Distribution and IO Protection.
  • Abilityto perform Control Panel FLA Heating/Cooling and SCCRCalculations.
  • Indepth understanding of ControlPanel production process.
  • Functionalunderstanding of PLC hardware/software platforms such as RockwellAutomation Siemens and Modicon.
  • Familiaritywith HMI/SCADA hardware/software platforms such as Wonderware GEiFIX Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View Schneider andSiemens.
  • Understanding of DCS hardware/softwareplatforms such as Emerson DeltaV orsimilar.
  • Experience in industries such asWater/Wastewater Treatment Life Sciences Building Automation Foodand Beverage Oil & Gas andMining.
  • Experience leading a team ofengineers/technicians to provide control systemsolutions.
  • Experience mentoring lessexperienced engineers.
  • Professional referencespreferably one from each of the following: a subordinate a peer andamanager.

TRAVEL:Ability to travel up to 25% around the Chicago area with occasionaloutofstate travel to surroundingstates.
